ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are offered by provinces and territories in Canada.
Each province or territory has its own set of eligibility criteria and immigration streams.
Common streams include those for skilled workers, international graduates, entrepreneurs, and semi-skilled workers.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The application process for a PNP generally involves two steps: nomination by a province or territory, and then application for permanent residence to the federal government.
Eligible candidates must apply to the specific PNP stream and, if nominated, they can then apply for permanent residence to the federal government through Express Entry or a paper-based process.
EXPRESS ENTRY-LINKED PNPS
Candidates in the Express Entry pool may receive a provincial nomination, earning additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points and significantly increasing their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Many provinces and territories have streams that are linked to the federal Express Entry system.
Applicants with foreign educational credentials may need to undergo an ECA to ensure their qualifications are equivalent to Canadian standards.

Having an Express Entry profile is typically a prerequisite.

A provincial nomination adds 600 points to a candidate’s CRS score, virtually guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the subsequent Express Entry draw.

OCCUPATION-SPECIFIC STREAMS
