Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa

Eligibility

  • Be nominated to apply by a state or territory government or be sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated regional area.
  • Have a positive skills assessment in an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list.
  • Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect.

Occupation and Points

  • The nominated occupation must be on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
  • Points are awarded based on factors such as age, English proficiency, skilled employment, qualifications, and regional nomination.

Regional Nomination

  • Applicants must be nominated by a state or territory government agency or sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated regional area.

Points Test

  • Applicants must score a minimum of 65 points on the points test to be eligible.

Validity and Conditions

  • This is a provisional visa with a validity of up to five years.
  • Holders must live, work, and study in a designated regional area.
  • Eligible for permanent residence through the Subclass 191 (Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional)) visa.

English Language Proficiency

  • Competent English (IELTS 6.0 in each band or equivalent).
